I say a mistake because I was oblivious to the fact that literary theory is a jargon-ridden discipline, and although this book is, as its title denotes, supposedly written for novices, the book fails to furnish definitions of key theoretical concepts and frameworks imperative for the understanding of literary theory by ne My first encounter with literary theory and literary criticism was when I made the mistake of reading the bland book titled An Introduction to Literature, Criticism and Theory.
